Description

After great success at the 2014 National Gathering at Trilby Station, I am keen to run another National Gathering, this time close to Alice Springs so that the WA folk have a better chance to attend.

I have been in discussions with Jodie at Ross River Resort and they are keen to allow us to base the National Gathering there.

Some details from Jodie -
"We have a large grassed and shady campground over the river from the historical homestead which is open for viewing and also has a bar and dining room attached. We also have rustic Ensuite cabins on the homestead side for those who don’t want to “rough it too much”.

Check out our website and this link will take you to the page with all the National Parks Fact sheets that I think you will find interesting about the things to do in the immediate vicinity.
One can easily base themselves here for two or three days to explore the East Mac Donnell Ranges. Obviously 4 WD vehicles have access to all things in the area and two wheel drives would be a bit limited but by no means restricted.

We have 30 powered sites at this point and the campground is very large and nestled amongst the ranges."

As per the 2014 Gathering I have decided to hold a Dinner on the Wednesday night (8th of July 2015). Jodie has indicated that they can do a 2 course meal for the same price as this years Gathering $30 per person.

Rates for Ross River Resort are as follows -

Powered sites are $30 p/n
Unpowered sites are $24 p/n
Ensuite cabins – Standard $130 per night

Again as per previous Gathering please bring a raffle prize to be used in the daily raffles, money raised will be given to a charity.

I have decided that the Alice Springs Branch of the Isolated Children's Parents Association be the Charity that the funds raised will be donated to. ICAP weblink.

With a bit of luck David and Michelle may attend as well (hint hint)

After a great suggestion by Neil, I would like to have a " Christmas in July" theme for the Wednesday night dinner. I would like to ask everyone attending to bring a wrapped unisex gift to a value not exceeding $15 to be placed under the tree and I am sure I can find someone to play Santa (thanks Scrubby) hehehe

There are designated fire pits throughout the campground which are available for use. People can get their own firewood or we have a pile down by my maintenance man’s bus with a wheelbarrow which is $10 per load

baznpud (tassie) 1 Missed Trilby, but as long as we are still breathing, we will be there, thanks Kev. As of 17/2/15 we are both still breathing, so booking has been made on the Spirit, booking also made at RR and also for Wednesday night.
blacounty1 We missed Trilby would would love to include this gathering on our way up to Outback Queensland.
batsy 1 Ok what the hell...it's only a "bit" further than Trilby. We're in. Count us in for the dinner as well. Where is SCRUBBY going to get his yabbies' from out here ?
Member - Michael P (QLD) 1 2015 is shaping up to be a busy year. Count me in.
Idler Chris 1 The plan is now in place for me to be there.
Member - garry w2 1 Thanks Kev for once it looks as though it works in our favour will be great to catch up to other members will pack some winter gear by the sounds of it see ya all there
Peter M61 Hi Guys . Not sure if we could make the trip. We towed our van across across the Donahue and Plenty Hwys in 2013. Conditions then were variable but not too bad. The campground at Tobermorey was shady and well grassed with good amenities. Consider the Outback Camel races are on at Boulia, Bedouie and Winton in the later part of July. Would suit those returning to the East Coast.
Member - The King 1 Ah Kev how can we say no after Trilby. Prince Rufus says thanks for organising another gathering he can attend. Note new name, you win. Maybe we should add a damper cooking comp to the activities this time. What you think.??? All you damper cooks, polish the camp ovens and kneed your dough, may the best cook win, no holds barred. The King, Queen, and Prince Rufus.

Member - Serendipity(WA) 1 Hi Kev - Looks like we will be able to meet up at the gathering 2015. We have planned a trip across the Anne Beadell and up to the SA deserts at the same time. Just a bit further and we will be there. We also have 6 cars traveling with us so total of 14 persons. Same ones we travel with normally and were present at the Wiluna Gathering some years back.
Member - Howard (ACT) 1 with Margaret set to retire this year we had planned a trip to the gulf this winter so all going welll we will get to this gathering either on the way up or the way back depending on the weather. update8/5-have made bookings for accommodation and the dinner. we will be coming down from Tiimber Creek via Binns Track after a slight detour via Undarra, Kurumba, Lawn Hiill, Kingfisher camp, Limmen national park and Katherine
Poppy1 G'day Kev, we have just purchased a camper trailer (still got the van though) and this would be a great opportunity to test it out and also catch up again with a few familiar faces, so at this stage myself and Justene will be there.Cheers Ray
