Why is sexist language and crude/sexist comment jokes allowed on this site. Read half the jokes, do a search on SWMBO etc. Displays a pathetically illiterate, inconsiderate and insensitive mentality. You lot allow it but moderate posts on sometimes a drop of the proverbial. Would have thought you'd show a little leadership. Bit primitive isn't it?

For what it's worth, my wife (SWMBO) reads the posts and jokes on this forum and gets as much of a giggle, if not more out of them than I do.

I think the context in which the jokes and references are made are all in good jest and not intended to intentionally cause harm, insult or malice.

Have a look a Russell Coight, should us blokes get concerened when our other halves laugh and say "That's the sort of thing you'd do"? I think not.

There are far more offensive things in life than this. Try catching public transport.... the F-Bomb gets dropped all the time regardless of the presence of women or children. Lighten up, enjoy the joke for what it is and smile.

Fab.

Me likey too lol!

We were in a caravan park in Alice Springs last Oct & a bloke in khaki shorts & shirt pulled up & starts to set up with a 30 second tent. Which went well, until he started with all the annexes, ground sheets, torches on his head etc! Yup! it was Russell Coight! Well, he was to us lol!

She who must be obeyed is a COMEDIC line used by the actor George Cole when playing the ever in trouble "Arthur Daley".

In effect, those who use it are piss taking themselves!

Get over it & move on!

Do I sense a bit of Political Correctness rearing its head here? What wrong with us Aussies today ? Can't we still share a joke? We should "chill out" as the generation of today say's, whats wrong with having a bit of a laugh by taking the **** out of each other. The Friday funnies always gives me a bit of a giggle without me looking at the jokes with an attitude for correctness. I guess some people are just too sensitive about such things.

My 2 cents worth!

I thought the mango season was over???

Friday Funnies is the one chance during the week we all get to have a laugh. If the jokes offend, then don't open the thread.

".......pathetically illiterate,.........etc" Yeah, there's some shocking grammar, spelling and punctuation on here at times, but the retired chalkies, and others, soon reprimand us for posting "Kimberleys", or other gross errors.

I'm about to have a Nanna Nap, maybe you should too?

Hello John/Regina (?)

Please report any language you feel breaches the foul language rule using the alert moderator function. SWMBO is more of a term of endearment IMHO and does not appear to breach any existing forum rules.

Also note the suggestion in the Forum Rules for those tempted to read the Friday Funnies, i.e. the last sentence...

The Friday Funny Rule
As an end of week treat, every Friday (system time) we allow ONE post to be titled "Friday Funnies", to which people may add as many jokes as they like as Replies. If you are likely to be offended, don't open these weekly posts.

This is not to say all "foul" language is tolerated or all "jokes" acceptable (report suspected breaches - Mods don't read everything) but I would suggest those less tolerant of certain concepts not go out of their way to filter through all the F/F submissions every week.

Cheers

Yep, a "LIKE" from me and my SWMBO.
You see a lot of similar and worse language and behaviour on TV and just like TV there is an "off" button.

From the "Rumpole of the Bailey" series of novels later made into a TV series.

Rumpole referred to his wife as She Who Must Be Obeyed.

SWMBO is a term used by wimps because they obey their wives !! Us blokes who live in a man's state (NSW) have modified the "Rumpole of the Bailey" term to read "SWMBI" meaning "She Who Must Be IGNORED". It is perfectly acceptable in our state provided it is said in jest and that she is not in earshot when the term is used!!

My wife also reads most of the Friday Funnies, but gives those that she considers a bit offensive a miss. Easy Peasy she reckons and I have to agree with her for once.

SWMBI also now and then takes a peak at the posts in general, so I would respectfully ask the moderators to please remove this follow up just in case she reads it and find out that I have modified the abbreviation to reflect my stance on being my own person and not in the slightest way scared of the consequences should she find out of my modification :)

If we are going to get picky about "pathetically illiterate", I believe your opening sentence should have begun "Why are..." rather than "Why is......"

For most blokes who use the SWMBO or MFWAF and others usually have a fair respect for their female, friends/spouses and work colleagues.

This encompasses and understanding of the gender differences as much as is possible and blends it into everyday workable life so all can continue living.

Apart from some twisted individuals of which there are both male and female society is as normal.

Women have their own terminology and way of working and it's effects are felt by many, and this is aimed squarely at men, just not so openly, sometimes more covertly.

Hopefully it all doesn't get out of balance.

Many women like to be SWMBO and use it to their advantage. Most blokes won't challenge that. Or WW3 begins.

Some of the jokes are a bit off/sick though.

I for one would never call the Missus SWMBO as it would give her the illusion that i would have to do as she suggests. I couldn't have her thinking that could I.
I think that the Minister for War and Finance is more appropriate.
I think that we can excuse Rick for his comments as it is the Silly Season up in the Tropics ATM.

You're game, Al:-). I certainly wouldn't call "the princess" "the Minister for War and Finance" because she may think she has power of veto over the family budget.

On the other hand I was reading on a non-4WD forum recently where even the term "my wife" was considered to be sexist, and a grave offence to those who had "partners".

I suspect that too many peple go out of their way to be offended - and it's getting worse! The greatest defence against offence is, IMHO, to smile and walk away.

A male person of English descent, a male person of Irish descent, a male person of Asian possibly Chinese descent, a female person, Caucasian looking and with very fair hair, a male person dressed as a Buddhist monk and a female person dressed in a Nun's habit walk into a bar. The male bar person looks up and says, "What's this, some sort of politically correct, non sexist, non racist humorous anecdote or something?"

It's hard not to offend those with delicate dispositions...I did call one of them Caucasion looking...is that being too stereotypical? Also the Asian maybe Chinese, what if he's Vietnamese or something? The stress is just too much to bear. But most of all, I hope none of them were homos.....oops!

To a certain extent, I agree with the OP. Some of the jokes in the Friday Funnies sail very close to the wind, and, imo, don't do EO any credit.

However, these days I don't bother opening the Thread.
