G'day All,
Have a trip planned this year from Melb up the centre and around the west. Have a number of items I would like to secure in a wire basket style roofrack. Have read archives and would love to trust my fellow man but......... Does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks in advance to responses.

Jason.

Hi Jason,
I also use a roof basket.
I usually carry a spare wheel and a couple of other things when I'm on a road trip.
I secure them with ratchet straps or rope or both...

G'day Jason,

I use a basket to carry some of my camping gear and use a canvas bag to enclose them.
I use three straps to keep the canvas bag secure and stop it from inflating with the air pressure.

I also sometimes have our Oztent strapped to the side of the cage, resting on the cross bars and secure the whole lot with SPT stainless steel reinforced security straps which cannot be easily cut and are lockable.

About as good as you could hope for.

Hi Jason,
I think that you were referring to anti-theft 'security'.
For my more valuable and 'attractive items' such as 2nd spare and Maxtrax I use a steel cable with incorporated lock. It's worked so far!
Cheers

Jason,
A piece of cod end trawl net in association with ratchet straps works well.
