For anyone planning a Simpson trip in July – Big Red will be closed to vehicles for the set up of the stage, sound and lighting for the
John Williamson Big Red Concert that will take place on the 8th July. The concert will take place on top of Big Red and is part of a 6-day running event that is raising funds for diabetes research. Big Red will be closed from 8.00am Monday 8th until 10am Tuesday 9th July.
This closure has been planned due to limited space for vehicles and for safety reasons and has been organised in association with the lease-holder Brook Proprietors/Adria Downs, Diamantina Shire Council, Queensland National Parks and the Queensland
Police in
Birdsville.
4WDers are asked to use
Little Red, 3km to the south for this period.
Thanks for your patience while we stage this unique event.

Why is it that when they closed the climb to the top of Uluru for a few days in respect for the death of a traditional owner, people on this
forum jumped up and down and called it a travesty of justice and how dare they, yet when they close another Aussie icon even for a day so a white bloke can do a concert for charity everyone can't wait to get to the event.
Just sayin

why are you waiting for someone else to "jump up and down"?
If thats how you feel then go for your life and "jump up and down"!
Personally not a great fan as I find his music a little cheesy so I reckon its great to hold it in the middle of the desert rather than my backyard.
