Great trip through the centre!

Just got back from a round 7000km trip in my 07 Discovery 3 TD via -

1) Melb to Marree
2) Marree to Birdsville via Birdsville trk inc Inside trk.
3) Simpson desert - QAA-French Line to Mt Dare
4) Mt Dare to Alice Springs via Old Andado trk (Binns trk)
5) Alice Springs to Ularu via Finke Gorge and Boggy Hole
6) Ularu to Alice via Loop rd
7) Alice to Mt Dare via Old Ghan trk through Finke
8) Mt Dare to Coober Pedy via Dalhousie and Oodnadatta
9) Coober Pedy to William Crk
10) William Crk to Marree via Oodnadatta tr
11) HOME!

All tracks were in great "early" season condition, highlight was Finke Gorge and Boggy Hole- simply amazing!!

Used 75lt across Simpson (second time across) and got two flats (1 was my fault! :) )

P.S the Flats were not on the Simpson! One was on way to Meteorite Crater (too lazy to drop pressures!!) and other on Coober Pedy to Willam Crk rd.

Hi Bob,

I ran the standard 18 alloys (2 spares) and Cooper AT/3s 265/60/18 had one with issues but Coopers have been fantastic and are replacing it no questions asked!
I would not do that same trip again on 18s as Coopers are limited in St/Stt combos for 18s that will fit a Disco 3 hence running the AT/3s so today i bought a set of 5 x 17" Dynamics in Black and pickup my new Cooper STT 245/70/17 tomorrow.

I run 245/75 R16s STTs on the D2. A friend had the 17" STTs on his D3 and they were very effective. I think you've made the right move.

How many kms on the car now David? I've been out on trips with quite a few Disco 3's and 4's and I'm always impressed. I want to get one but waiting for the price to drop :-)
