Next week we will be heading for Leichhardt Falls and a couple of days later would like to camp at Kingfisher Camp en route to Lawn Hill. I would be grateful if anyone has recent experience of the road conditions to and from Kingfisher via this route.

I've looked at Places and searched the forum - nothing since 2010.

Cheers,

Min,

have you tried their website.

Kingfisher Camp - Bowthorn Station

It was put back up in recent weeks. I can only presume the contact details are still current but they would no doubt be able to offer advice on conditions etc.

Enjoy the trip.

Would pay to give them a call as the prices are listed as 2007.

Please post what you find out.

Thanks

I restored the Kingfisher camp website a week or so back and the owners tell me all the prices are still current. www.kingfisherresort.com.au

Thanks Mick, Lyn W3 and ctaplin,

I checked out the website and am awaiting news by email on road conditions. We are in a Prado towing an AussieSwag on-roader and have been everywhere we wanted to except the CSR and Simpson (but nobody should be towing a trailer across there - don't want to start an argument).

If I don't hear in the next day or so I'll phone as we leave home in a few days.

Will post news and also our experience, should we get there. It is highly recommended by friends.

You will have no trouble at all with your rig, just take it easy...the roads vary in condition from very boneshaking to mildly boneshaking, nah just joking , we just went from Kingfisher to Lawn Hill towing a 17ft dual axle poptop behind our Musso and it was easy but took 4hrs as there are 14 gates to open & shut , good exercise for the co-driver...just take it easy...cheers

And it is $20 per night on very good grassy shady sites and HOT showers and flushing loos, but the fishing like everywhere else up this area is not real good.

I fished up and down the Kingfisher billabong for 3 months when caretaking over the 06/07 wet season and mostly only ever caught catfish with the very occasional black bream.
