Is there a camping/caravan park at Woods Point in Victoria? Google Maps tells me there's a place called Richmond Retreat, but I can't find any info on it.

Thanks.

Google is your friend. Try a search on richmond retreat woods point. This link was one of the results.

I couldn't find anything on Richmond Retreat itself, other than a few mentions.

However there are a number of very nice campgrounds along the Goulburn River, which runs through the town.

How big is your van? It's a windy, narrow dirt road into and out of Wood's Point. It would be a challenge for big vans, I would think. Campers, motor homes (not buses) and small vans should be ok.

Cheers

Richmond retreat is a set of Dongers. Not sure how good they are.

Woods Point accommodation

I can say they never answer the phone or call you back though.

There are a few places to stay at Woods Point.
There is a camp ground a few K's on the Jamieson side of town out past the Gun Club, also there is / used to be a camp ground below the General Store on the Goulburn River, as well as another enclosed area out at Maori Creek, cross the River into an old gravel site.
The road from Jamieson is windy but there shouldn't be any problems with a van.
The road in from Marysville is ok to Mortlock ? then drops about 1-4 into Woods point.
NOT ADVISED for heavier vans.
We used to sit outside the pub and smell the cooked brakes of the weekend warriors as the drove past..
As well as that there are quite a few great camping spots on the river below A1 mine ( Closed ).
The WP Pub has become a great meeting place for the "weekenders'' , trail bike riders to pony clubs etc and is slowly undergoing a revival.

Hi Siringo

There is no caravan park in Woods Point and the only camping spot suitable for caravans is the Jack Scott Reserve approx 1km from Woods Point on the Mansfield side on the Woods Point/Mansfield Road.

Richmond Retreat is cabins only and the road down to them from the Point would be difficult with a van.
Contact number for Brian & Heather at Richmond Retreat is 5777 8285

There is a camping Ground at Comet Flat just past Richmond Retreat but it is bush camping and not suitable for a caravan.

There is limited fuel at Woods Point and no General Store though milk, bread and basic items are available at the Post Office/store.

Good meals at the pub.

There is no camping at Matlock.

Hi Siringo again

Just adding that the Jack Scott Reserve has no power and no water except for the Goulburn River running beside the campground.

There are two open shelters and a few wood BBQs and tables.

Also dunnies but no ablution facilities.

Bloody great spot though!
