Hi all, a quick question. We are travelling to
Birdsville next month and will be going out to Haddon Cnr on the way. The question is :- can you get across to the
Cordillo Downs Rd so as not to retrace our steps? Have read you can some where but can't recall & maps show no tracks !
Thanks for any help

we were out there about 3 weeks ago, left
Birdsville headed for
Windorah and turned off the developmental rd onto
Cordillo Downs Rd. followed that past the
ruins and
shearing shed and if you stay on that road you'll end up at
Innamincka. we didn't go to
Innamincka though, we turned off that road though about 36 klms past the
shearing shed and then hooked up with the track that runs back North to
Haddon Corner. if you don't turn off to
Haddon Corner, that road runs back up to the
Birdsville Developmental Road. it sounds like you want to visit
Haddon Corner on the way to
Birdsville, so you'd be possibly doing that drive in reverse to what we did depending on where you intend coming from.
for a better detail of what's out there,
check out this trip report i've just about completed on another
forum, you'll have to join up to view it though. the particular drive i'm talking of is on day 8 of this thread
http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=30925.0 , though you may be interested in reading the other days to see what we visited around the
Birdsville area also.
cheers

G'day Tony,
to see Haddons Corner and
Cordillo Downs from
Birdsville, you will have to retrace your steps at some stage.
The track into Haddons Corner stops there and doesn't continue through to the
Cordillo Downs Rd.
If you drive directly to Haddons Corner, then down to
Cordillo Downs you only have to back track form the turn off to the station. That way you do miss the
Waterhole near Caldelga HS
ruins but it's the easiest way to se both Cordillo HS and Haddons Corner.
