The old Eyre Hwy from Nullarbor
homestead east to
Yalata and to the new Hwy is also easily traversed. Passes the Ivy Tanks
Homestead ruin, tracks to the north of
Yalata without entering the community and emerges onto the new Hwy about 100km west of
Penong (S31.55150 E131.96062).
Another advantage of the old Hwy is avoiding Border Village. 40km west of
Koonalda take the right fork onto the Old Coach Rd (S31.50498 E129.41293) rather than left to Border Village. It meanders through grassy country and emerges at the Eucla rubbish tip, 7km inside WA. Should you wish to do so........
Have been travelling this way for 35 years but like many other routes now it is on Exploreoz I guess it'll be lost to the masses....
