Stzrelecki Track

just home from... south australia/queensland/nsw
via flinders ranges.. gammon ranges.. arkaroola..innaminka..coongi lakes
by far the worst road was the strzlecki track from mount hopeless to innaminka
severe corrigations and large pot holes made it through with the camper trailer (chinese) and 2008 ford ranger . anyone thinking of this route towing a caravan should seek advice on the condition of the track before setting out... many had to transport there vans by truck back the liegh creek

Hmm...I could be wrong here? but I always thought that in the good water years Coongie lakes (note the spelling) was larger than Sydney Harbour?

The Strzlecki track is going to be getting that black stuff put on it soon. There will be another dirt road gone. I don't mind them being rough we seem to like our trips easy. I tow a offroad caravan and just drive to the conditions. If it gets to easy there will be a lot more people out in the bush and those nice quiet place will be full off noise and rubbish left behind by the ferrals.

Seems to me with all the large trucks using the strzlecki its hardly a quiiet peaceful road .surely getting there Innaminka etc .then going off road to the peace and quiet of the bush and dessert would be a far better option.. but saying that each to there own i suppose

It will be sad days when they start to close the nice camp spots because people are to lazy or don't care to take there rubbish out.

Leave it as is. Keeps the caravans and their noisy TVs, stereos, air conditioners and generators out. Oh and that includes the grey water that they dump. Right next to our tent and couldn't care less when asked to cover it.

I have a caravan. I use solar and my grey water goes into a hole I dig and cover up when I leave. I agree there is people that don't give a flying. Grey water is no different to emptying your wash up bowls on the ground. I also have a generator and are very considerate to others around and only use it as a last resort. I agree there are people who would have theres on 24/7 if they could. I take my black waste with me and don't leave toilet paper lying around because people are to lazy to dig a hole. When we camp we burn our paper in the hole and then cover.
