I've just bought a new New (2003) Nissan Pathfinder Ti and hope that someone can help me with some info about Auxilliary Battery Setup to run an Engel Fridge (29L Museum piece c1976 - still going strong although looks like hell !!) Someone quoted me $800 for setup etc. Can this be so ??
Best regards to all,
Graham

Heck yeah it can be so . . . .
Unless you do it yourself.
If you want to have a look at the Overlander
Forum . . . there is a HUGE thread on path finder mods , and I'm sure , a dual battery setup.

Hi Graham,
i have just been quoted $600 plus battery. After asking around I purchased a Redarc Smart switch for about $160 and am in the process of wiring it myself. Probaly will cost me $200 plus battery.
Best wishes
Howard T.

Thanks Howard,
Might have to follow your lead although I didn't really want to fiddle about myself. Did it on my old Nissan Patrol back in the late 70's but thought while the Pathfinder was new I'd get someone else to do it. Didn't realize how much it would be. Yikes!!!
Best,
Gab

Graham, flapan is right. We have a special Pathy thread at
Pathfinder
forum
One of the regulars has a dual battery set up and there are a couple of photos of the installation. Be warned - the tread is now 130 something pages long with almost 2000 separate posts but if you're having trouble finding the right bits, let me know and I should be able to find it fairly quickly for you.Smile, you're on ExplorOz

Ive got a pathie also And was wondering about a 2nd batt for the same reason. Where is the battery going to be fitted? I can't see a good spot(enough room under the bonnet).

Thanks Philip:
Actually I've been so busy with other things since I posted that I haven't even had a look to see where it might go! I'd rung an auto-electrical guy I'd used before and he said he'd done them and it would cost about $800 ! Maybe I'll just use the auxilliary plug behind the centre console for the time being until I look into it a bit more. I will have to
check if that shuts down when the igition is off OR make sure I turn the Engel off.
If you have any thoughts, let me know (burnsga@pacific.net.au). I'm in
Sydney (Northern Beaches) if you know any other auto electric
places around here !!
Best regards,
Gab
