Greendog,
Hunters gorge is probably the best as the Gum Hole
camping area is full of Cats :(
I would allow at least a 2 night stay in the park as a minimum to see everything as
well.
Cheers Kev

Agree with Sir Kev - Hunter's
Gorge. As for is it worth it,
well I certainly do and I would go back there if I was in the area.

Depending on what sort of camping you like as to where to
camp.
Hunters Gorge is more exposed but great
water hole. Gum Hole is much more sheltered and is my preference even given a few feral cats, just lock everything away at night.
Easy to spend at least 2 or 3 nights as there is plenty to see and do.

Green dog,
There's also a
good camp at the old Mayne Pub, on way out to
Winton, or way in, depending on your route.
Good scenery, and the Mayne
bore nearby, provides good water, for drinking and ablutions.
Also, as it's on a stock route reserve, it's okay to spent the night, or more. Probably only downer might be it's about 40 Kim's from Hunter's
Gorge.
Bob.

Wrote a couple of
blogs about our trip to the Diamantina NP a couple of years ago. Great place. The camgrounds are quite different, so which to choose would come down to how much shade you wanted. The 100km drive around part of the park is a "must do" - takes a full day.
Cheers,
Val
