I am having trouble with my TX 3220 radio. It will no longer transmit or receive. The TX light comes on when the transmit button is pressed but fails to transmit. I tried another microphone with no success. I plugged in my old TX 3200 and it works fine so that should rule out the antenna. Any help would be appreciated. Have been told it could be a blown resistor?? But not sure.
Thanks

mgc,
From my experience, it's rare for GME gear to bugger up too often.
Microphones are notorious for PTT switch to stick on, wear out or the cord getting fractured through repetitive or rough use, but the radios themselves are more reliable. We had one, from memory, that showed similar trait to yours, that had broken speaker cables.
When you say the TX3200 worked, assume you were actually talking to someone else?
Unless you're
well versed in electronics then I'd shoot it down to nearest GME agent, and get it repaired properly. You could also buy a new one, get this one repaired, and keep it as a spare?
Bob

Hi mgf
If you have a 3220, it would be less than 3 years old. All GME radios come with a full 3 year warranty.
It sounds like you do have a problem with the radio, so take it to your nearest authorised GME dealer and they will get it repaired for you.
Hope you get it sorted out.
Cheers
Stephen

A blown resistor in deed......it could be a blown all sorts of things, dry joints or a dodgy switch.....all speculation and of little help.
First you need to estblish that it is in fact not transmitting or recieving.
#1, you have established that is has power because the tx light comes on when you key the mic.
#2, you need to connect a known good aerial and
test with another known good radio.
turn the squelch off, is noise heard from the speaker.....audio circuit proven.......does it recieve.... key up and speak on another radio close by.....then does it transmit....key up and is it heard on the other radio.
if the other radio has a recieve or bussy light, this should come on when the mic is keyed even if the audio is faulty.
Appart from that it is technicians work...these radios are all very compact and have surface mount components & large multileged chips...its not something you will fix outside of a properly equiped worshop.
cheers

I agree with those above. Next time you see the learned gentleman who said it was a blown resistor ask him if it could have been a blown "poofer valve". And duck quickly1
i don't think that I would muck around any more. If, as you said, the 3200 worked okay in both send and receive on that antenna then just pack the 3220 up and take it to the GME doctor and let them have a go. In the meantime hook up the 3200 and use it.
And most importantly DO NOT OPEN or fiddle with the 3200. You really may blow a resistor and a poor technicians "poofer valve". Opening it up will also, without question, blow your warranty. Fingers out my friend.

I have had a similar thing happen to
mine. I think they call it a PA Module that dies....
usually caused by a issue with your antenna. 100$ was the cost to repair
mine took 1hr.
