Hi,
I am looking to find someone in the
Canberra area that does ute canopy’s for a reasonable price. Preferably a lockable cage covered with canvas but will also consider a solid one. We haven’t been able to find one for under $6000 and was just wondering if anyone has any experience or advise?
It is for a single cab 79 series land cruiser.
Thanks

Hi Sarah S4,
know what your up against trying to get something in
Canberra. I had the same issue a few years ago when I got my 79 ute.
Ended up going to
Sydney and getting an aluminium canopy built by MW toolboxes at St Peters 1800 x2400 x1150 lift off box with 3 doors cost $3500. I paid another $1400 for the legs which was pretty expensive. It cost me about $300 to fit out the kitchen and insulate and carpet line the sleeping area.custom insect screens which velcro inplace were the most expenxsive item of the fitout. we have it set up to sleep on one side and kitchen down the other. storage is mostly under the bed
After 100,000 km I'm still impressed with how the unit has stood up and how
well it works . our longest single trip has been just over 3 months.
let me know if you would like to look at the setup/canopy. I'm southside
regards
Howard

Hi Sarah
Try Richard & Andy Fulton at Hall Metal Fabrications 02 6230 2600
They built a solid aluminium canopy for our 79 series 18 mths ago and we are very happy with it. Good tradesmen, easy to get on with and passionate about their business.
Good luck
Mal
