Review: Martins Tank Lake Campsite

My Place Rating: My Rating 2/5

Closed during 2013 for redevelopment, this campground has re-opened in time for the 2014 Summer holidays.
White crushed limestone roadway loops and footpaths make navigating at night easy and help define where the camp sites are.
There is a communal area with gas barbecues, a gas burner for pots & kettles & dish washing sinks.
New long drop toilet blocks include stainless steel hand rails, and stainless steel hand sanitiser dispensers. Level cement floors and hard packed paths make it easy for those of us a bit unsteady on our feet :)
Dogs are NOT allowed
No fires from 1 November - March 31st (may be extended if conditions require it) BYO wood.
No bookings - first come, first served
A walk trail leads to the salty lake - turn left just past site 6.
Overall, a nice spot to spend a few days. Supplies can be purchased from Preston Beach general store on the way in.

Site 1: Camp hosts were on-site with large caravan and annexe - probably won't be there during off peak times.
Sites 2-6: Individual camp sites. Park near the toilet block and walk in. Just enough room for a small dome tent or couple of swags. Picnic table at each site
Sites 7-21: Individual camp site big enough for small family tents, not huge multi-room bungalow types. 2 parking bays for each site - for 1 car and 1 trailer, or 2 cars. Picnic table at each camp site. Some might handle small campers
Sites 22-25: Group sites. Park in a communal area and walk in to the camping area. Approx 10m. Multiple picnic tables
Sites 26-34: Most obvious redevelopment area. On the left side of the track are 'built up' patches just big enough for a picnic table, a camper or small van and a bit of wiggle room. Same thing on the right except the sites are 'cut in' to the terrain.
