Which is the best way to Camerons corner from Sydney? As in road conditions & time travel & sights to be seen on route?

Cheers

Jackablue

P.s.Would you still go the same way if after the Corner down Strzelecki to Flinders Ranges?

Jackablue,

This route worked for us:

Nyngan (O/N)
Cobar - Museum
White Cliffs (2 Nights)- Jocks Place, Town Tour
Milparinka (Depot Glen, Mt Poole)
Tibooburra (O/N)
Corner
Innamincka (3 nights, Bourke and Wills Sites, Cooper)
Arkaroola via Moolawatana

Roads:

Basically all sealed to White Cliffs
White Cliffs over to Silver City Highway is pretty good, better than you expect based on lines on the map.
Tiboo to Corner is slower going owing to the dunes and great desert scenery.
Old Strez up from Merty Merty is not maintained and mainly detours around wash outs and low areas, great scenery tough in amongst the dunes but slower going.
Strez is 100K stuff most of the way but can be rocky and corrogated at Inna. end.
Moolawatana shortcut had quite a few washouts when we went over it but otherwise not to bad.
We had a petrol Jack at the time towing a small trailer (14-15l/100k) and after filling at Inna., put a jerry in as a precaution about 50K from Arkaroola. Probably could have made it but would have been bone dry.

Hope this helps...All aboard!

Billy's right thats the way to go. If you want a more scenic route from Tibb to CC go via Sturt NP. Don't forget to have a beer at the corner store.Regards Bob

Thanks guys, just trying to work out if it was better to go that way or through Bourke. I just thought looking at the map, it maybe a little of double backing to get to Flinders Rangers.

Jackablue,

It's really only a question of how you get to Tibooburra. You do back track a bit by going up to Innamincka, but you can go up on the Old Strez and back on the new. I have heard the Bourke-Wanaaring-Tibooburra rd can get quite corrogated and there is definitely not as much to see.All aboard!

Thanks Billy, that's what I really wanted to know about, the Bourke-Wanaaring-Tibooburra rd. I was just trying to get there the quickest way, as I am Towing a trailer & planning to travel after the Flinders Ranges back up to Maree, Oodnadatta, Willam Creek, Coober Pedy, The rock, Alice, Tennant Creek, Mt Isa, Townsville.
