We are heading to Ceduna from Adelaide on about Friday 9 May. Aim is to be at or near Wudinna on that day. Towing a 16' caravan and wondering if there may be a home stay near Wudinna, just something different rather than the caravan park. Would need to be reasonably close to the main road and would be nice to have a shower available, otherwise we are self contained.

Thanks
Russ

Wirulla, 120kms west of Wudinna, has a small Rest Stop with power, toilets and showers.

$10 per night (I think) paid at the General Store, check with them about access to the toilets/ showers.

It's basically a large concrete pad with a four way power outlet in the middle, near the shops.

If you go to this page in my Blog 2013 Trip and scroll down the page you will see a photo.

Read your post with interest. Are there showers at that location?

Camps 7 says key for the showers at the General Store or Hotel.

It's actually referred to as a caravan park, but it's just that concrete slab and toilet/showers, hardly a park.

We stopped there for morning tea today. The sign there indeed says to get the key for the showers from the hotel or store.
I believe it used to be tennis courts many years ago. You would have a bit of trouble trying to bang pegs in there. LOL

The large concrete pad is actually two tennis courts with the surrounding fence removed. The 4 way power head is in the middle. There are two concrete tank like structures on the road side of the camping area. One has two shower rooms, you get the key from the pub or general store. The other has the public dunnies in it, these are available to the rest area beside the road.

You pay a fixed fee of the shower key and there is an honesty box (or used to be) for the power. If you have a look at the Google Maps street view of the camp site you will see how motor-homers park there, you may not be able to get 4 units on power.

If you don't make it that far, Kimba has a camp at the recreation area, water and with power....donations only. $3 for a shower. Clean amenities, and much better place to stay that the caravan park in town.

Yes, that's a very nice spot too.

Scroll down this page on my Blog for a picture: 2013 Trip Home.

There's a very nice social area there, usually plenty of travellers. The locals like to come over and have a chinwag which is pleasant.

As a matter of fact, the Eyre Peninsula has plenty of great spots.

If you were coming from Ceduna wouldn't it be a matter of if you made it further than Wudinna that you would consider Kimba not the other way round?

If you are prepared to stop a few minutes short of Wudinna then my suggestion would be Tcharkuldu park (-32.847009,135.195768) only 2 mins off of the highway at Minnipa.
No showers, but there is a long drop or two, and when we visited there wasn't another person seen, and judging by the way the place was I don't think many know about it.

You are even slightly elevated so you get some great views across the planes from camp, or you can stroll up to the top of the rocks for an even better view.
If it is a bit windy then there is plenty of space around the outcrop to find shelter for the van.
