Hi All,

Can anyone give me an indication roughly on how much a injector overhaul (or is it replacement??) and diesel pump retiming should cost for a 6cyl diesel? Im coming up to the big 400 (1000 kms that is) and I am thinking about getting it done soon.

Thanks!
Dave.

$100 -$150 each for injectors new

$4000 -$5000 fuel pump overhaul

About $6000 or .015 cents per kilometre

Approximate Sydney cost.

For a TD42 will be anything from $1400-2500 for injectors and pump rebuild. The $2500 was from West End Diesel, who run it on a Dyno, and get the max out of it..

G'day Truckster, I live down your way (Patterson Lakes) and am trying to find a diesel mech that I trust to do my pump etc, without shafting me. If you can recommend your bloke and he's done the right thing by you I would appreciate it if you would give me his details - alex@resultsnow.com.au
Cheers

This is from a chat with a mate right now about his dads 80.

=======================================
Ryan Said: (West End Diesel this was)
Look on dads face was priceless!!

$3200,
Dad complained but they told him that $3200 is
Dyno it first
Compression test it
Reco pump (plus modify it) pump housing warped so lotsa parts needed
New injectors
Set the inlet and exhaust valves
Adjust the fuel etc
Filters
Dyno it again to get everything 100%
And labour
So really its a good price

Wayne, your way off the mark there.

Just recently i had this work done and cost more like $2000. (6 cylinder)

The pump overhaul included replacing a few things like a broken plunger spring as well as the complete housing as it was damaged. All injector nozzles were also replaced.

BTW- new injectors cost about $1000 each so i take it you mean new nozzles. ($80 each)

i have just had a quote to do my pump and injectors here in Rockhampton, I have a GQ patrol TD42. The pump, injectors and labour they are saying will be $2500.00, I have fuel leaking out the rear seal of the pump, I want to get the injectors done the same time as the pump, tthe breakdown of cost is Pump $1100.0-00, injectors $165.00 ea and about 5 hours labour getting the gear out of the car and fitted back in again.
I have also been told that this could increase depending on the condition of the pump. I have 229,000 km's up on the patrol.

How does that sound as a quote??????

cheers

Hi Tazz,

My 80 series T/diesel cost $1790 (drive in-drive out) to overhaul pump & replace injector nozzles, incl replacing general wear & tear items.

I had to replace some damaged items though. (extra)

BTW- they only charged me 3 hours for removal & refit.

Thanks for that Kev.
I might have a bit of a look around the town and see what price variances I can get here in Rocky.
Biggest problem we have down here is...nobody seems to be able to say simply "its going to cost $... for that work"..so I get a nasty feeleng that the places want to fleece you for what they can get...

cheers

I took the Patrol to the local Nissan Dealer today to get a price from them...and they said the problem on my pump was the top seal had gone...which isnt uncommon...to repair it is fairly easy and costs around 180.00 to 200.00....

cheers..
