Hi all,
I just installed a new CB and installed a GME 4705 antenna with a 1.2m fibreglass antenna. For normal day to day driving I also purchased a 4701 58cm antenna.
When the smaller antenna is installed in the base, there is quite a lot of room between the antenna and the sides of the base.
The diameter of the 1.2m antenna is around 40mm and the diameter of the smaller antenna is around 18mm.
If it is raining the base will definitely collect water,
Just wondering if anyone else is running this sort of configuration and has the water collection caused any issues with the base?
Thanks
Phil P

The larger base for 4705/4706 antenna have a drain hole below the threaded hole for the grub screw.

Thanks, I had a closer look and the drain hole will do the trick!

Hi Phil
I have seen some people buy a second
grey cover and cut a very neat hole in the centre, slightly smaller than the installed aerial, which acts as a very neat stopper.
Cheers

Any ideas on where to purchase it? I couldn't see anything on the gme website

Use the one that came with it or go to Bunnings and find a large chair stop or similar.

Hi Phil
I am an holidays at the moment, so I can not get the GME Part number.
Yes they are available as a spare part and sell for only a few dollars.
Cheers

I ended up drilling a hole in the original cap, very neat looking.
Just need a longer 1/4 inch grub screw to make it harder for would be thieves!
