I forgot to advise everyone that a few weeks ago I was talking with Dept Indigenous Affairs and have confirmation that the new roadhouse is now open for business although the official launch is March 2004.
See our Anne Beadell Trek Note for full details on what fuels, opening hours, contact details etc as it has just been updated.
I was very surprised to hear that they are offering
free camping (with
toilet facilities) at the roadhouse site too - so would love to get some
feedback on that from early travellers this season plus some photos.ExplorOz

In a funny kind of way, its takes the fun out of outback travel a bit.
It's getting
too easy now.
Soon there will be a roadhouse on every track corner.
Another nail in the coffin for "the total outback experience"

Great news - certainly takes the hassle out of having to carry so much fuel - I can't wait to do this trip.
Down side is it opens remote areas up to everyone and the wilderness is lost.Subaru Forester
