G'day all, just purchased a new jayco hawk outback camper from the adelaide caravan and camping show, they have improved the suspension by extending the leaf springs a further 150mm, placed dampers either side of the axle, a bump stop and have used a better shocker which by all accounts should give a better and hopefully softer ride, and a few extra options at no extra cost over the previous model, wife, kids and myself can't wait to get out and about, hpoefully we will get to meet some of you formites on and off the road, cheers, Adrian.

Congrats on your new purchase Adrian, I hope you and your family love it and have some great trips away together.

Like all things the latest model always has better options etc, sounds like Jayco have made some good improvements, good on em.

The Jayco Hawk is a great camper and I am sure you will have many years of happy trails with your new purchase.

You will find a new van is just like a new 4WD, after every trip there is always "just one more" thing you want to add/customise.

Cheers

Mark

Well done aceman. You should really enjoy it. We are having a lot of fun with our penguin and yes, as David says, there's always something to do to it.

Look forward to seeing what they've done to the new models at the Sydney show.

congrats Ace - I'm sure you will all have a ball. I have a 3 y o Jayco Eagle and am very interested in the upgrade thay have done to the suspension. While it's never actually stopped me, the original suspension has been a pain in the ----! Have had the shocks welded back on 3 times. Interestingly the shocks themselves have never given way, always the brackets, and on one occasion the weld and part of the chassis came away. I was left with a hole about 2" square in the chassis rail. I'm not happy with the arrangement the Jayco service guy did on the last repair and am thinking of taking it to a suspension specialist. Would really appreciate a photo or 2 of your new setup if you get them to me. My email is gannonterry@hotmail.com

By the way, we are really happy with our rig and take off in May for the big one. Starting in Sydney going White Cliffs, Innamincka, Birdsville, Marree, OOdnadatta, Dalhousie, Finke. Alice, Darwin and then down the West Coast, across the bight and right around the coast back home. Got to be back 3/05 for a wedding so leaving out Qld this time.

Congrats Ace! I hope you enjoy it, they are a nice looking unit, and I came so close to buying one myself that i bought an awning for it! Then i did a bit more thinking about exactly what the family and I wanted from it and decided it wasn't quite right for us.
