Bega Boy
greetings all , have an electrical issue , started with high beam turning off on main head lights but the spotties and light bar wee staying on , on closer inspection found that after the high beam has been turned off , I still get 6 volts on the high beam circuit ( when on I get 12 volts ). When I
test without the globe in ... It goes completely open circuit .... Would I be correct to presume the globes are " leaking " and allowing 6 volts to continue through even after high beam is off , this is just enough current to maintain power to the relay ... Has anyone else ever had this issue ? Globes are new and cost about $80 and since lost the receipt ...... Don't have any spares to
test ..... So has anyone else had this issue ?

Had similar problem with two of my Patrols.
The light control switch/stalk thingy had to be replaced both times. Can't remember exact problems, but it was something along the lines of them not being able to handle the current. Both
mine were GQs. Mainly occurs with high wattage spotties apparently. (100w)
I ended up cheating by using the isolating switch to turn them off as needed.

If you add anything to your headlight circuit ( even stronger bulbs) you should add relays into the circuit so that the headlight switch only is subject to a tiny current to switch the relays.
There are lots of relay circuits around which usually include a male plug the same as the headlight plug to activate the relays so they are plug and play.
You will also find your lights will be brighter as there is usually much less voltage drop with the relays.
