What? No longer free? It was a very popular free camp in 2006, although not quiet between the road and railway line. The bakery made a killing selling campers their wonderful pies at all times of day and night.Dump point and water on tap, with access to public toilets in the car park were the only amenities when we were there. "At Westbury we stayed at Andy’s Bakery camp ground. Although the camp ground is pleasant enough and flat, the toilets were ‘public’ and dirty and a shower cost $6.00, so we treated it as a camp with no facilities (other than a dump point) At $20 per night, we thought it was poor value." Times have obviously changed since your visit MH. I think they have been charging for a few years at least. From memory, the charge was per person, so if we paid $20, it must have been $10 per person. Perhaps they saw us coming and charged more than the going rate? All I remember (and as recorded in my blog) is that compared with most other places we stayed in Tassie, it was poor value for money, though a pleasant enough place to stay. OzCamps lists the rate as $5 per person in 2009.
