Hi Ken,
Was reading your thread re leaking pipes and came across your blog in regard to crossing the Great Dividing Range (GDR).
We were at
Coffs Harbour this year and dropped down to Port Macquarie where we turned right and headed for
Wauchope, Ellenborough,
Walcha,
Bendemeer and down to
Tamworth, crossing the GDR in the meantime.
The run from the turn off to Ellenborough (where there is a good over night
camp ground) was as good as flat.
On leaving Ellenborough you start the climb up the GDR and it is quite steep in
places with some almost 360 degree turns, and the road is quite twisty but is a very nice drive.
We drive a 2002 V8 Cruiser towing an 18 foot 2.5 ton van and didn't have any trouble what so ever, other than constantly changing gear and swinging on the stearing wheel.
Wouldn't think you would have any trouble with your rig at all.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Baz
