Hi Phill,
Great to hear from you. Yes mate, we had a great time and like with any of these types of holidays, never long enough.
I understand your point with the comparison between Karijini and
Millstream. Bang for buck if you want to see Gorges, I think Karijini is one of the best National Parks in Australia. Having said that, we felt the actual
infrastructure and associated visitor/camper facilities were atrocious compared to
Millstream.
I see you are going to do the
Kimberley and
Broome next trip. If you haven’t done the
Gibb River Road, I can highly recommend the
camping facilities at
Windjana Gorge and Silent Grove (
Bell Gorge), both are DEC Sites. (Packed during the school holidays) Will you be towing a Camper Trailer or Caravan?
A tip for you Phil is try and plan your trip around the WA and NT school holidays during the early dry. The corrugations on the
Gibb River Road were appalling, though not surprising based on the amount of vehicular traffic filling up and down. We will do something similar again next year and intend to depart
Perth around mid-May.
Cheers,
Greg
