Yep, agree 100%, just hit the 'thanks' button, Phil.
For those of us that were there it is an insult and a put down to see this WAR described as anything other!

Cheers,
Dennis

Only thing I could find was a memorial to servicemen in all wars.
Lightning Ridge War Memorial

This article mentions the Sheepyard pub . . . this may be near the memorial mentioned above, or it may have another memorial . . . there is reference to a special service held there to commemorate the battle of Long Tan.

Hi Bill, there is quite a moving memorial near the Sheepyard pub about an hour west of Lightning Ridge.

We saw it when we went on the self guided 3 pubs in the scrub tour.

The Sheepyard Pub also has some moving memorabilia from the Vietnam conflict.

Yes - Good day trip from Lighting Ridge to Sheepyard Pub and the Memorial. If a veteran sign your name on the Pub wall, etc. Have a beer and great Pies!

Sounds good to me. We could drop in after the Simpson. I gather that it is the Inn at Goodoolga. Always try to drop in. These "odd" in the nicest ways always have good friendly patrons. Always a local yarn to listen to over a good bit of tucker. And the veterans list is worth a scan. May see some names that I know.

Thanks mate and looking forward to the reunion. I have one at 133 in two weeks. Not bad numbers for such a small mob. You will know one or maybe two as well.

It was initiated by Vietnam vets but it is not a specific memorial the the Vietnam vets.

A gem in the opal fields: Sheepyard War Memorial
