A bit of a trivial issue, but I will soon be needing to dismantle the dash in my 1990 Hilux for some other work and figured it might be an oportunity to fit cup holders.
What I want to know is firstly, is it possible to fit the cup holder unit from the SR5 spec into the DX and if so, does anyone know any good wreckers/suppliers around Sydney/Southern
Sydney where I could pick them up.
cheers,
Sam.

Hi Sam,
I fitted a cup holder to my 95 2.8D base model Hilux a few years ago - and it was the best money I've spent on the bugger! You're right - the SR5 cup holder fits straight in - there's just a bank plate you will need to remove - and in it goes! When you see the cup holder itself and how simple it is - makes you wonder why they didnt just put it in there in the first place - tight arses.
Anyway - I tried to find a second hand one from a wreckers - but no-luck - cost about $70-$80 bucks from Toyota - expensive for a cup holder - yes! But it is so worth it - no more carrying drinks between the legs of tryting to balance it in the centre console! Yay!

And I imagine they are the same as my surf, located just infront of the air con vents... Keeps your drinks ICE cold with air con on and warm with heater on, so simple but great!

But then again I probally should not be drinking
my home brew while driving!! I shouldn't even be within arms reach of any vehicle while drinking that stuff!!

Hi,
Had a mate try and find one at a wreckers in
Melbourne. Tried six I think and was told they are very scarce. One wrecker was even looking for one himself, and had been waiting for ages too.
Sounds like new is the only option. $70 - $80 stings at bit for a cup holder, but I agree they are very needed.
Good luck.
