Gary Junction Road

Be keen to hear report from you when you get to west coast , I'm doing same trip in 6 weeks time. Hope you have great trip

Travelled across a couple of weeks ago from Alice Springs Through the West Macdonnell Ranges. A few corrugations closer to the communities with the worst being the stretch from the NT/WA border to Kiwirrkurra. Bush fires have burnt out patches of the country but apart from making the scenery a bit boring will not affect travelling in any way. The road from Telfer is good and the bit of mobile phone service from the hills around there makes it easy to touch base.
We stayed at Carrawine Gorge which had recently had rain and was a delightful spot to camp.
If you are not in a rush you will enjoy the Gary Junction Road.

We'll be heading across the Gary Junction Road one week after you - must stay in Alice for the Finke Desert Races.

Hi Omaa my wife and i are leaving Alice Springs on Wednesday or Thursday to do the same trip as you,we will probably see you on the track.

It will be a traffic jam with so many going LOL. We saw very few cars, and one approaching hailed us to stop for a chat. It was by chance someone my husband used to work with. We shared a pleasant weekend at Jupiter Well with a group of Victorians travelling in the opposite direction to us. We also met a man on a postie bike travelling the country as close as he could to the Tropic of Capricorn for a record on a postie bike.

We will be out there the end of August heading from Ayers Rock to the gunbarrel then to Newman
