I have been told there are several recieps for
toilet chemicals that one can make ones self. The main ingredients i'm told are borax & concentrated disenfectant. Can one of the
Toilet litterate forumites shed any light on this delicate subject?

We use the stuff in the white bottle from the
camping shop as it's supposed to be safe for the enviroment.

Maybe if you can mix it yourself, you could have it with ice, save adding it to the
toilet seperate....8-)
May make for a more pleasant "aroma" while in the car travelling too, save winding the window down.....8-)))

Why would you want to?
The cost of the stuff isnt outrageous, you dont have to worry about exposure/storage/purchasing of chemicals and the formula constituents that you list are not what would be classed as 'environmentally friendly' as pointed out in previous reply.
Do you know what the 'home brew' versions do to the chemical
toilet itself?
At least with the 'store bought' stuff you have some idea of its compatability with your
toilet.

Hi Rick
We have used a make up
toilet chemical for quite a while now and it works as good as a bought one. The ingredients are: 1 cup of Borax desolved, 1 cup of Pine o Clean and 1 cup of Cloudy Ammona all mixed together in 5 litres of
water.Works as good as anything you can buy and a lot cheaper as
well.

Hi Phil,
I'm interested in your chemical mix for
toilets. How much do you put in a normal sized Porto Potti and is borax easily available?

Borax is readily available at any
supermarket..is cheap..but make sure you disolve it properly..same for cloudy ammonia..cheap...and pine-o-clean..been around for years..being so cheap to make , we use about a cup full per tank...cheers
