I have read & heard about new LR model due the end of this year. No separate chassis (now monocoque), and Puegeot V6 diesel motor (no TD5). Is this progress? I'm surprised there has been nothing about this (yet that I have seen) on the
Forum from Landy afficinados. How does these radical changes affect YOU, the anticipated 2nd. hand value of your existing Discovery, and availablilty / price of spare parts for discontinued motors?

The V6 twin turbo diesel sounds sweet. 440Nm, heaps more than a standard Td5, also Jaguar 4.4 V8 petrol. Td5 has been around for a few years now. You can still buy spare parts for a 1948 Series I motor so I don't think that will be a problem.
The design is not true monocoque but some sort of integrated body/chassis structure (yeah I know that's what monocoque means), but stronger than a car based monocoque anyway. Only thing I don't like is that they have slung the spare underneath, poor design that!
The new Defender will be based on the same platform, so
mine, as one of the last of the old breed will probably appreciate!

why oh why do they do that???? when the 100 series cruisers came out with an under-slung spare, i couldn't believe it.... the loss of clearance is incredible!
but i guess with more and more 4x4's being bought for purely on-road usage it's being aimed as such and making compromises for the majority of buyers.
