hi im looking at buying a subaru
liberty AWD 1992-1994 model. i do a fair bit of fishing and want something that can tow a small boat and is able to drive over some sand.
has anyone had any experiance with libertys on sand?
would this be a good choice or should i spend a bit more and get a real 4X4?

G'day Mark,
I have on friend that owned a
Liberty AWD wagon, around a 99 model I think.
They did take it on sand once at Yamba and the clutch died on them on the return trip to
Sydney.
I don't believe that they are meant for offroading. They are however a brilliant road vehicle.

I have had
liberty wagons for a few years now and find them to be bullet proof . I have driven
mine on sand a few times with no problems . The two i have had have been the 1999 & 2002 RX 2.5 models which come with a dual range gear box which is what you need for sand and pulling the boat out at the ramp due to the cluch heating up very quick

All Subau's are great in sand - let the tyres down a bit.
The older models with the 'pump up'
suspension were bullet proof and had great ground clearance on their higher setting.
If you aren't sure about Subarus mechanicals etc., make contact with the Subaru Club in your state for advice.
