Have just come bck from Wyndham via Timber Creek (Buchanan Hyway etc). Towed my camper trailer with tinnie on top. Fuel economy was atrocious. About 11 -12 mpg in the old parlance. Have 80 series petrol landcruiser. Am still thinking of 100 Series TD. Can anyone give me accurate figures fuel figures for the following.

100 series TD
City Cycle?
Hyway unladen?
Hyway towing app 1500 Kgs?
Speed I sit on is app 100Kms/hr

Hi Garry

We did a Cape York trip from Melbourne in 2003. I never worry too much about our fuel figures. Trip was fully laden with a roof top bag and all the other gear - no trailer. Have 2001 100 Series TD

Traveled 10116 km and used 1641 litres of diesel
Spent $1413.47 on diesel at an average price of 86.1 Cents per litre.
This equates to 6.163 km per litre or 17.41 mpg. Pretty good really I thought for quite a lot of beach and pretty heavy going.

In town we generally get around 1700km on around 225 litres of diesel. In the country doing around 120 we get around 1500 km out of the two tanks - usually around the same 220 litres

Toyota quote 16l/100 for the V8 and 11l/100 for the TD (both 100 series). But towing 1500kg with a tinny ( and probably a big load in the LC) is sure going to cost you whatever you choose!

Garry, extensive touring (13000km)with a camper of aprox 1500 kgs, plus 4 adults and one child. proberly another 300 to 400 kgs of gear in the car and on the rack . We traveled at about 115 to 120kph and most of the time got between 16 and 19L/100km depending on conditions etc. around town no camper usually around 13L/100km highway unlaiden 14 to 15 L/100km but I tend to do long out back distances and travel at about 120kph.
When my wife drives with the camper we get about 15L/100KM she travels around 100kph. this covered the gibb river road up to dawin, down the middle and across the great central and back up to the Pilbra and around Karijjeni.
Worst I got was 21L/100KM due to a constant head wind all day.
If you are eaiser on the right foot than I am you will proberl get better than this.
