Alan,

Great Divide Tours out of Sydney have a tag along up that way as we speak. Give Vic a call at GDT, and he may be able to tell you - or ask for DB's sat phone number (tour guide) and ring him yourself and ask him !!! Hes probably near the Jardine right now.

Vic is in Sydney now - not on tour. He is in contact with the group regularly. DB gets back June 28.

Alan,

I am not sure of the curent coditon of the roads but I do know that the track from Stones crossing to the4 Telegraph track has a solid gate accross it that requires a key from Berthaiugh Station to open. I know it is difficult to get preision for this track and it generally only given for people travelling from the telegraph track to Weipa. I did it last year and it is relatively slow from the telegraph track to Stones crossing. From there to Weipa it is a reasonably good road.

I had heard it was no longer possible to travel either way using the Stones crossing route. If anyone has any recent reliable info on this I would love to know about it
Cheers Rob

Rob,

The information is upto date. Two of my friends are on there way up and have got permission to go through Berthauigh station to stones crossing provided they go from the telegraph track to Weipa. There is a charge per head. it is at the descretion of the owner and I am not sure what criteria is used.
