Hi One and All

Have searched high and low and actually came up with a post from Truckster (who I cannot find on the member list anymore) back in April 03 showing pics of dash pods for the GU Patrol. Would anyone know where in Melbourne these can be obtained? I want to fit a Uniden UH088 into the beast but running short of room (sunroof fitted)

Cheers in advance

David,
I got mine from a Sydney company....The Dept of the Interior.
I know that's not in Melbourne. I was living in Cooma NSW at that time and I sent them my UHF radio, the external speaker, a voltmeter and switch (so I can switch the meter between batteries). I also drew a neat diagram of how I wanted everything mounted in the pod. I also did as much of the wiring of the voltmeter and switch beforehand.
They sent back the new pod ready to instal......no holes to be drilled. Works a treat and have been over some BAD-ASS corrogated roads (Cape York etc) and it never moves at all.
Highly recommended.
Cheers,

yea thats the place.

Any 4wd store can get them in for you or you can deal direct with them.

There was one on ebay yesterday might still be up there

Hi there, I double-sided taped my 27meg unit, which is rather large, to the top of the dash in the same spot as it would sit with the pod in my last GU. It sat there for 4 years and have just done the same for my latest GU. The pod just makes it harder to see over!!! Regards Michael

David,

The Department of the Interior are on the Princess Highway, Kogarah Bay. In Sydney they are very, very good but not cheap.

I upgraded the sound system in the GU and used the space left in the dash to mount the UHF. Simple, cheap and very neat. Plus the 10 stacker makes it easy to carry plenty of music.

Hi Duncs, When you replaced the stereo, what about the wiring, is it the same for the new unit or modification necessary to the wiring.. Michael

Michael,

Me and electronics don't get on all that well, coupled with the facts that I had just spent $50000 on a new car and I was really strapped for time I had it done professionally. I was told that they make up a set of plugs so that the original unit can simply be plugged in to it's original connections if you ever desire it. They also installed the UHF looks and works great and cost about $160. I don't regret it one bit.

David,
I have a dashpod from the Dept of Interior with a UH088 radio. Just rang them, told them what radio had to go in and they sent it out. Very simple to fit yourself and works a treat. Has not restricted frontal vision to any extent
