Pradopoint registration difficulties

Hi folks,
I am a member of this forum but just bought a new Prado and was hoping to ask a few questions about towing/gear selection, on the Pradopoint forum. Tried to register there but it is impossible. There is no way to contact them to even tell them there is a problem UNLESS you are registered. So there is no way I can tell them what is going on.

The specific problem is that there is a "random security question" you have to answer in order to complete your registration (presumably to prevent bots getting in). The question is "Surname of Australia's current Prime Minister".Well I put in "Turnbull" but it says that is the wrong answer. Then, thinking it might be a bit out of date I tried "Abbot". Still wrong. Catch 22.... I went back as far as "Howard" just to make sure....but no luck. I was using a Mac computer.

My neighbour also has a Prado and he tried to register himself using and IBM PC. He got the identical "random" question (LOL....its not very random) and also failed to register.

So in desperation, having no other way to penetrate Pradopoint, I have turned to this forum thinking that there will be many members of ExploreOz who are also members of Pradopoint. I would greatly appreciate it if someone out there could log on to Pradopoint and tell them that there is a problem with their registration system. I would be surprised if my neighbour and I are the only two people experiencing these difficulties.

Thanks

We have a Prado 150, automatic. We always tow in 4S not overdrive. We are also Pradopoint members. If you would like we could forward your post to the Admin team and see what happens.

Thanks - it would be great if you could let Pradopoint know about the registration difficulties. I would still like to join.

The actual question I have relates to the new 2.8 litre engine.

The new engine is coupled with a new 6 speed gearbox. I am aware of the idea and reasoning behind staying in S4 in a 5 speed gearbox but wanted to know how this might change with the new gearbox. Does one use the new S5? Or is S4 still the appropriate gear even in a 6 speed box. I believe the question has to do ultimately with transmission heat and transmission oil life. As I understand it S4 (in a 5 speed box) is a "locked gear" where the transmission is not so dependent upon the fluid coupling.

The Toyota handbook does not seem to cover this point .....at least I could not find it in there.

Cheers
Tony

Tony,

Have sent your problem. I have also said I don't know your email address so if they reply to me I may well have to post here.

I even tried Julia without any success.

What a stupid question. It's like navigating by using movable objects as compass references references. No matter how smart the system is it would still need human intervention to make sure all is going okay.

Just enter Abbott.Mine worked.

It wants the surname only and looks like they need to do some updating.

Well thanks everybody. The problem is solved - I could not spell Abbott as it turns out (thought there was only one t). I am now registered. Thanks for all your help. I will also register for Lcool and see what that has to offer.

By the way I contact Tamworth City Toyota, who sold me the Prado, and they suggested that towing in S5 was the way to go (S4 where load/incline made it necessary).

Cheers
