Place Comment: Suicide Bridge

Can I drive the track off the main road in a standard 2WD sedan?
I'm just worried about sandy spots or clearance issues.

Warren, I put "Suicide Bridge" into a search engine and got very little. For Oz I got "The Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Mooney Mooney Bridge on the Central Coast (New South Wales), and the Westgate Bridge in Melbourne, Australia, are considered suicide bridges." ll these have sealed roads leading to them.

Please explain yourself.

Hi Peter, here is the link:

I posted this is a comment on the place itself so not sure how it ended up disconnected. Cheers.

Warren, thanks for that. I notice that there are other parts of the web site that put the follow-up onto the main forum. The reviews of products are another area that end up here. I suspect that very few members trawl through those areas so if the answers don't appear here then practically no one will spot them.

Hi Warren

Here is the first part of information regarding Suicide Bridge only

As we have been out that way many, many time, I know where I am going with GPS waypoints, but follow my easy instructions.

From memory, it is around 45 minutes from Renmark on the Main Wentworth Road. The track to turn off will be on the RHS of the road heading east, and not signposted. Use my photos below as you best friend and you will have no problems.

The most important thing to watch out for will be a track on your LHS clearly signposted "Danggali".
If you come to this track you have gone too far only by a few hundred metres.

Years ago you could drive up to the old bridge, but now, there is a road closed sign there. From the locked gate, it is around 800 metres and an easy walk on the old road. From the road the old bridge will be on your RHS, and knowing what it looks out, you will have no problems finding it.

Now for a few images to keep you on track.

Cheers

Stephen

Stephen,

I have tagged the two actual bridge pics into the place - this tag function is now in the Advanced panel on the photo edit page. Great response as usual.

Thanks

Warren,

It is not disconnected at all but a system feature - you will notice at the bottom of the thread is an open panel to Related Pages and this is the link to the area of the site you submitted the feedback on. I wonder if the related page details should be at the top of the replies and not the bottom. Anyway the operation that occurred in this feedback was exactly how it should work. As this forum trail is also always available on the Suicide Bridge page as well as the forum.
