I am trying to find a low-cost used 17x8 alloy rim to use as a second spare on my 2005 Landcruiser 100 Sahara TD. I have a Kaymar twin rear wheel carrier and would like to match the existing rims.
Attached is a photo of the rim style I am after.
Any suggestions?

Barry,

Wife has a Ford Fiesta and I wanted an alloy rim for it. Checked Gumtree and scored one in Townsville a couple of years ago.

Just checked Gumtree now and there's a few available in Qld, though didn't notice any with similar pattern/offset to yours. You being in Victoria, feel your choice might be much greater there?

Buying rims from a wrecker might be a little suss, especially if the donor vehicle had been in a serious accident.

Thanks Bob,
Yes, I've looked at Gumtree with no exact matches yet.
When I bought the vehicle earlier this year, it had two mounted spares. A bit later I realised that one of those was not a match for the other five. It had a different offset, different style, but the same stud pattern. If I ever find a suitable replacement, I will sell the odd one (it probably came from a non-IFS cruiser).

Yeah, easy to get caught with buying 2nd hand, Barry.

Bought a s/h '06 Falcon XR6T about 6 years ago, mag wheels with a full size steel spare. Drove it for 3 years, and about 60K kms, before checking the spare in an idle moment. Offset and stud pattern were okay, but the 16" rim wouldn't fit over the bigger turbo calipers.

Then purchased a new alloy rim in Townsville, that "should fit" said the salesman.(was in my 'cruiser ute at the time). It fitted okay, but had wrong offset! :-). Eventually got one that fits, but it's a different style.........ah, well, it'll get me home.

Good luck with your search, Barry.

Two suggestions:
1. Check out the listings, Classifieds section, Landcruisers Online { Lcool }
2. Ring around any 4WD / Toyota specialist wreckers in your region (if you can personally do a close inspection of a rim before parting with your $, it should be safe enough.
You might luck in.....someone might have a single....fingers crossed.

We have a 2005 GXL 4.2TD and it has 16 inch rims. I did not know that the Sarah has 17. Isn't the Sahara an "optioned up" model of the GXL version?

Are you sure they are 17" and not 16" like ours?

Yes Phil,

I'm 100% sure they are 17", with Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ LT285/70R17 tyres fitted.
(My previous Landcruiser was a 2002 GXL TD and it had the 16" rims.)

G'day Barry, have just been through the same, but for a 150 gxl prado, found one in capalabah? In Queensland, rang my brother in law, who is doing the same trip, and also required a second spare, and same vehicle, so he went and brought it.. Thought we could share the spare, but run different profiles.. I ended up contacting a second hand rim dealer in Sydney, cost me $340 freighted to Queanbeyan.. The one in qld was $250, with a new tyre on it as well, but profile to suit brother in laws vehicle anyway.. So he did alright! For me $340 + $380 for a new tyre.. Guy in Sydney who helped me out is Gareth 0421163333.. He did it a lot cheaper, wreckers wanted over $500, and new, toyota wanted $1250.. Good luck with it.. Cheers Odog

Thanks Odog,
I found that guy on eBay. He has one used rim left but it is $590 + $38 freight. I was hoping for a bit less than that!
