I'm looking at a trip to Qld next year and was wondering if anyone can tell what is the condition of the road between Clermont and Tambo?
Is it sealed?
Thanks
Les

Not entirely Les.

Appears to be about 60kms north of Alpha, and a bit less than that north of Tambo.

The Alpha-Clermont section is where these mega coal mines are at the moment, so can imagine even the gravel sections would be in fair order, most of the time. South of Alpha might be a little less upkeep, but drive to conditions. A lot will depend on how much and when the rain falls, over the coming 3-4 months.

As at October this year, Clermont to Alpha a bit corrugated, not sealed at all. Alpha to Tambo more that half sealed and work being done on the rest. No problems with our caravan.

Les, we were on those roads in May. Gravel sections of Tambo to Alpha were quite benign. Alpha to Clermont has some tricky hilly gravel sections with reverse camber corrugated blind corners. After one near miss with a stock road train we learnt to slow down early and hug the left hand edge. So, as per usual, it is a matter of driving to conditions. Jon W

Thanks Jon, Thats good info. I always work on the basis that its better to get there, even if you are a bit late than to make it in box.

Cheers
