Yep pretty much.

Here is a summary for those who missed an exciting episode.

Libs came in and put fees up, and charged for campsites with no facilities.
Labor came in and removed fees for sites with no facilities and reduced some others.
Last Dec they reduced more fees so everything is pretty much where it started.

Have I missed something?

"No point making unhelpful comment"

Hmm, correct.

No point making unhelpful comment.

Fixed, now it has a point.

I was not referring to your (helpful ) comment Boobook, but to the useless statement made by motherhen.

The 'no fees' only applies to those parks without basic facilities and also applied to state forests and parks. Popular parks such as Wilsons Prom, Johanna Beach and a few others still require balloted placement over the holiday periods and fees apply across the year.

Vic National parks is suffering real issues with the simple fact that Labor, while removing the fees, have not delivered the funding they promised. There was a rash of spending on infrastructure of $5m initially (which didn't provide a lot after being funneled to "preferred" suppliers, and then nothing. Parks revenue has been cut by $57.0m in real terms in 2014-15 meaning that services, staff and environmental protection programs have been reduced.

While we rabbit on about notional fees, Parks Vic is bleeding to death due to a lack of funding. I sometimes wonder about the environmental credentials of any of our political parties.

My 2c worth.

That's ok TazBaz, I was just making a pun on the full stop, I couldn't help myself. But I do agree with Motherhen, I am not sure what the OP is referring to. The fees have kind of gone full circle, and there was plenty of public consultation during the changes and on this forum.

There are fees at the parks close to Melbourne that are heavily used ( and abused), and those silly charges for unmaintained sites have thankfully gone. The fees for higher value locations ( like cabins, Wilsons Prom etc) seem reasonable on the surface, though I must admit not using them. They are a higher add value location and given that they are always full in peak times seem to be ok. These sites cost money to operate.

It is hard to make meaningful, relevant replies when OP's post vague, incomplete comments or questions.

Thanks for that Tasbaz, and your even less useful post. I was saying in a different way what many bluntly post as "Do a forum search" in similar circumstances.

If the OP had asked for prices at specific parks, I would have provided this, but that has not been asked, although it might be what he is wanting to know.

Are you really adding value to the OP's question.

NO.

Enough thanks kids. If you want to snipe at each other go do it on MM otherwise play nice and if you have nothing of value to add, don't.

Thanks

Two things come to mind here. Firstly the OP is a vague uninformative post which neither tells or asks anything in particular.
Far to many of these lately.
Like "Tyres"? Well what about them?. and other similar titles
Secondly Motherhen has been a respected helpful member on here for 11 years and has helped endless numbers of people. She is probably as sick of people who dont search as a lot of others but is too polite to say so.
Then along comes a guy who has been here for 7 months and has a go at her for what was a reasonable reply in the circumstances.
He contributed even less to the discussion with his rude post.
Perhaps he should review his membership.

Perhaps members should treat others with respect, and not arrogance!! Given the context of this forum, the original questioner/OP was quite clear and is deserving of a reasonable reply, not a cryptic bit of know it all.

And why didn't you make a meaningful reply Tom? And while you're at it, put you money where your mouth is and become a member!

Childish, churlish and unnecessary.

Pretty simple question and pretty easy to answer as Micko has done.

I don't mind paying a fee for camping in our national parks, nor should anyone providing the money goes back to providing for and improving our National Parks. Unfortunately, and here's something a lot of people don't know, there fees go into the parks trust. The income that the trust generates is syphoned off into Governments consolidated revenue account meaning it's used as the Govt sees fit and may not go towards National Parks.

Have been a member much longer than you but no longer travel so gave it away and just retain an interest.
Dont know squat about the OP question but do know about the knowledge of older members who didnt deserve your comments.
My comments are no more unecessary than yours and you started it with your uneccessarily rude comment about a fellow member.
Im just sticking up for her.

Thanks for the huge value you've added to the OP's question.

Some absolutely world beating responses there. Thanks.

As you don't seem to be capable of providing anything further of value, and to prevent the OP being bombarded with responses that offer no value, the thread will be locked.
