HDJ 79 R Aftermarket Seats

G'day
Has anybody out there managed to find suitable aftermarket bucket seats to suit a "79" trayback ?
Have looked at ones from "kinetic " called a paradrive, but cost blew me away.
also been looking on ebay at similar types but totally unsure of quality.
If you have had success in this it would be appreciated your feedback.
Starting to get over the milk crates supplied with this model, not real good after about 600 odd k stints behind the wheel lol.
Cheers

As well as any sage advice gained here, also check out LCool......the ''fountain of all global wisdom on Landcruisers'' :-). BUT...search first....the mods hate queries for a subject that has already been raised.

Ebay may have what you are looking for, Seats

I know they are listed for Nissan, but they may have Toyota bases.......

We fitted good quality sheepskin covers to our 79 series seats, Flighty.

Certainly a lot more comfortable, but I find the seat height too high so I have to look through the top of the windscreen. Find that reclining the back a bit more helps but it's not ideal.

I'd be checking out Recaro's too, but might have to rob a bank. :-(

Flighty, I'm running a combo of the Recaro Expert M and Ergomed (looks the same only heated, cooled and all the zillionaire bits ;-). There's a bloke in Germany who is worth watching. Ships to Oz in timely fashion. Paid half price compared to local price for same seat.

Carpartzz on Ebay

In the interim, these look good and are exceptionally well priced. Haven't sat in one but they look the goods.

My previous vehicle was a 79series - bought some second hand recaros from a wreckers here in Adelaide for $950 and had them fitted. Made a huge difference.
Just be aware that there will be a need to move the mounting point for the passenger side seatbelt, and if the RHS runner is moved sideways, there is no rear hole for the RHS runner on the passengers side.
The bottom of the recaro seat is flat and attaches with 4 holes. There are various ways of adapting the original runners or I'm pretty sure you can still buy a base for the 79series.
