Morning to all on the forum,

Here's my story:

Walk into Strathpine Nissan dealership, having been referred by my neighbour who just bought a 3L TDI ST.

I have alot of accessories on my GQ which I can transfer so I was going for the DX 4.2TDI. The dealer can't believe it that I want a DX but who wants carpet and electric windows in the bush...

He proceeds to inform me that, in accordance with his pricing book that the DX Patrol is $52,095. I say ok, he says so what do you want for your GQ truck, I said at least 15k. It ends up that the manager for South East QLD is there who reckons he can get it from a broker, he goes away, comes back and shakes my hand, saying he has a buyer in Sydney (he actually got 18 calls while I was there). So I end up keeping my Lightforce 240's, erps, sony amp, arb compressor, uhf, and Nokia hands free kit, they can keep the rest. I pick my color, there is a special on at the moment where you get the free bullbar, towbar and driving lights. I also asked on my deal with the trade that I get the bonnet protector and head light protectors free. I then get sandgrabber mats at cost, cargo barrier and the rear mat.

I get aircon at $2600, and the wide wheel pack for $600. In total it comes to $58645. He knocks off $8,645 and offers it to me for 50k even less trade. i jump and pay my deposit. I come in the next day to finalise (won't be until August that I get the truck as there are no DX's in the world, has to be made) and he informs me that there has been a hitch...oh i say. His pricing book is 2 years old and doesn't include the mark up since the TDI motor, I got the TDI for $52,095, he was meant to sell it for $55,095. Nother $3k off. I payed a deposit, so it's mine. The air con was meant to be 3600 and the wide wheel pack 895.

Therefore, I got $11,000.00 off by fluke, I got a good trade on my truck, kept all transferable accessories, got a crap load included on the new truck for awesome price. He finished up with me on Saturday by saying that I was by far the most impressive bargain hunter he'd seen who'd screwed him without his knowledge, might get a sticker made up. He was so impressed that he'll sell me the truck with both tanks full of diesel.

That's my story! Since I saved so much, I can now afford to join as a member...going to now!

Cheers all,

Trol.

Sounds like a good buy Trol.
The following bit is for Roachies benefit.
Nissan sales must be losing out so much to Toyota that they have to practically give them away to move.LOL

Trol, you will probably get an e-mail from explor oz confirming your membership status and when the account is activated, when you log on, there will be a red band across the top with Member XXXXX and some other secret stuff that visitors can't see.
Remember that Exploroz operates out of Perth and they are 3hhrs behind the East coast.

Des Lexic,

Fair enough, do i have to wait until the stuff comes in the mail? I'm still a visitor at the moment and I've already paid. Is that right?

Cheers mate.

Jeepers your stretching the grey matter a bit now. I think it's mainly electronic except your sticker and membership card. If you only did it today, it might not happen until tomorrow. You can contact them direct through the About us icon at the top of the page and then contact us. Good luck

Good work Trol

I am after an ST 4.2TD with safety pack and have got it down to under $57k with BBar TBar DLights Cargo Barrier and Snorkel. Might push a bit harder now I have read this. I have elected not to trade my old GQ nor my RAV4 which may be another option if they give up haggling.

They are all ears if they can tie you down on the spot but they will not be losing money no matter how happy I feelwhen I drive away: thats for sure!

Hi Jamie,

You might want to look at going somewhere else. Make sure they know you'll buy today for the right price. My dealer knocked $6000 without even blinking.

Cheers

You're right Trol. On a 50 K car you can expect a 6 K reduction off the list price at the minimum. The other mistake many make is you can haggle over the price of all the assesories too. (expect up to $1000 off air for example) Now if you had managed that great deal off a Toyota dealer it would have been the perfect buy. hehe................
cheers Craig.............

I sincerely believe that his book would not have been 2 years old ?????
but he a bargain is a bargain is a bargain
maybe he said that to make the dealership look good?
or maybe im just too cynical????
