Hello , can someone please confirm whether the road from
Nyngan (NSW) to Bogan
Gate is sealed. Also which
free camp along this section of road is recommended. We are interested in either the one at Tullamore or
Trundle.
thanks Bob.

Depends which way you are going. There is a short, 15km, section of unsealed road before you get into
Tottenham.

G'day Bob...
Depending on which way you head south from
Nyngan or north if heading the other way... it is sealed all the way.
You can do a detour to the geographical centre of NSW which will mean some dirt road, which is all okay in the dry.
You can
camp in the Tullamore showground for a nominal fee.
Whenever we head west from
Sydney this is our preferred route to
Nyngan and points west.
Enjoy your trip, Baz - The Landy

Don't worry about the "geographical centre" of NSW, go and have a beer at the
Rabbit Trap hotel (Albert)
That's close enough, and the locals always up for a yarn.
Great country out that way, the "linger longer" sort.

Hi Baz, We are heading south from
Nyngan. You state that the road is sealed all the way which agrees with my atlas. Does this include the section north of
Tottenham?
thanks for your replies,
Bob.

If you are worried about dirt roads just head down the Highway from
Nyngan to Trangie, turn right through the town before the railway crossing past the golf club onto Albert then turn left at the
Tottenham to Bogan
Gate rd.
Should see some flooded billabongs around the Bogan just before Albert.
No dirt that route.

Thanks very much for your replies although I still have a point that's needs clarification. My current Hema caravan atlas shows the road south from
Nyngan to Bogan
Gate as being sealed all the way. However George states that there is a15km unsealed section before
Tottenham. I would be grateful if this can be confirmed and if it is unsealed is the surface good. i.e. no corrugations.
thanks Bob.

You can go
Nyngan to Bogan without touching dirt...
As I mentioned, if you were visiting the Geographical Centre of NSW that would involve some dirt...otherwise nilch!
I done this trip many times, so unless someone has taken the bitumen away, it is bitumen all they way - but if you want to be sure, ring the shire council!!

Sorry Bob i can't confirm as I'm normally on those backroads in that area and normally head south from west of
Nyngan. Thats why i suggested going down the Highway to Trangie or
Narromine then connecting with the Bogan
Gate rd.

Bob..
Free Camping
There would be areas along the Bogan Flood country that I'm sure you could
free camp along. Once you get to Tullamore and south I don't think you will find many areas, country is
well cleared and farmed.
I occasionally see caravans parked outside the before mentioned
Rabbit Trap Hotel, I wouldn't think they would charge much. From memory there is also at least one bush race track near the Bogan on the
Narromine-Tullamore Rd where you could
camp at.
