Dose anyone know of a good little country pub within about 500 ks of Sydney that you can camp within a short walk of to watch the Melbourne Cup.

Cheers

Riverglades Caravan Park in Tumut is right on the river and is walking distance to Pubs. Plenty to do in the Region as well.

Jingellic came to mind first. Right next to the Murray and pub. You can also get a shower in the pub. Been a while since we were there in 2009 so call the pub before you head there.

Jugiong is much bigger and right on the Bidgee and next to the hume. Good pub across the road and don't forget the Long Paddock cafe. But being next to the Hume it may fill up.

The Linga Longa Hotel in Gundy. Camp on the reserve right behind. Great pub with plenty of character and right in the middle of horse racing country (Scone) so always a good atmosphere.
Also the Victoria Hotel at Moonan Flat nearby with camping across the river.
Moonan is probably the nicer camp site, but probably a better atmosphere for the cup in Gundy.

How about Gundaroo it's about 250 km from Sydney.
Camping at the Rec ground for a small donation, shower and toilet on site, two blocks (approx. 500m) to the local pub and Pizza Café, next door to the shop and take away. Locals are mostly friendly and I expect that there will be a good crowd at the pub for Cup afternoon.
