Mike, all good information but you need to get yourself a copy of the Fuelmap app, it not only give you a map but also the latest fuel prices.

This app is by the same people that brought us Wikicamps and works in a similar way where users update the fuel prices thus keeping the prices current. It also gets the latest prices from WA's Fuelwatch.

Hope you enjoyed your trip.

Shaker,

A couple of points worth highlighting when discussing or comparing New Zealand to Australia...

Diesel is cheaper at the pump in New Zealand as there is no tax applied at the point of sale, however, there is a Road User Charge (RUC) applied to diesel vehicles and is charged based on weight and type and is charged for every 1,000klm travelled.

On ULP, there is no price tension. In Australia there is frequent discussion around the way prices fluctuate – this is the discount cycling at work. The Kiwi’s don’t get a discounting cycle they just pay full price every day!

Cheers, Baz – The Landy
