If your not one of the lucky ones that have an invite (wedding) the gates will be locked on the 19th April to the 8th May 2018. Only invited guests during that time.
That includes remote camping out at the gulf.
Cheers Andy

Gday Andy, Im not sure about being one of the lucky ones, I don't even know them Lol! It's the beginning of peak season at that time, they must have been paid a pretty penny to shut the joint for 19 days. Anyway good luck to them, I hope they have a good time. Michael

It's the property owners own wedding, nothing to do with money.......WEDDING NOTICE

Hi Michael,
Rhett and Maree that are getting married. And at that time of year it is still quite in numbers, but the property is at its best. With waterfalls and swimming holes all full and still running. Also the campground is very green (good for photos).
I don’t know if I will last the 20 days myself, that’s a big party.

Some friends from Humpty Doo have received an invite and asked if I can head up there and look after their dogs for a week or two.

I didn't have to be asked twice, the runoff this year is shaping up to be a ripper.

They do not get any of my money, extremely expensive to camp at Lorella springs.

Better places to camp and fish in the area.

I don't mean to hi-jack the original thread, but agree with CSeaJay, could you give any tips on locations up that way, as we should be heading up later in the year. And though I've been researching it's always good to get a recommendation. I'm setup for remote camping, self sufficient with 12ft boat.

I can camp in that area for $50 a week or less.

Why would anyone pay $40 a night.

Some people like a nice shower, toilets and other amenities. There is also the social side of things. Some people may have bush camped for quite a while and want a few more creature comforts for a change. Many spend tens of thousands on their rigs yet begrudge paying a couple of dollars for a good camp. For $40 a night you also get access to some places you,d never see plus there are safe tracks to take you to remote areas. Whatever floats ya boat. I also can camp in the area for nothing! You couldnt stay at home for less than $50 a night.

We have a toilet, shower and solar power and a few other comforts. why pay for amenities we never use.

Warren and CSeaJay, when you find a good camp never tell anyone.
They all have friends.

Some people appreciate how much it costs to set up & maintain any sort of facilities in remote areas!
But then then there’s people that bitch & moan about the cost of fuel in the Outback & try their hardest to be able to bypass these suppliers, one day I hope for some reason or another they urgently need fuel only to find the supplier has closed due to lack of support.

For what it is worth we were there last year, and I did not mind the entrance fee; It gave us access to many splendid places, great camps and good fishing and croc spotting. I am fully aware of the fact that it cost them money to create and maintain the roads, campground etc. The cost did make our stay shorter than we probably would have stayed if it was a tad cheaper, but that is simple market forces for you, I am not complaining.

there seems some miscommunication with my follow up query it was not about cost but places, we will be staying at lorrella springs and shore to have a good time but some people do explore areas out side of the norm and that is the info i was chasing. we dont have any time limit and take things as they come as plans often change . cheers warren
