Hi all,
Can anyone advise on the best place for current road conditions in particular Tibooburra to Camerons corner. Planned to travel that way on Monday 14th June, hoping it will be open before then.
thanks Mark

The reports are updated when a major change occurs, when we get the updates or weekly. I have just received the latest report for this area that states road conditions 8AM 10 June.

Tibooburra to Cameron Corner UR8 OPEN

Is what it says.

You can also try this:

Road Condition Broadcast (Recorded Message) 08 8082 6660

This is for far west NSW only.

You could try the Sturt National Parks office at Tibooburra (08)80913308 which I just looked up in "Explore Australia by 4WD" though it looks like the roads are closed all the way to Broken Hill at the moment. Where are you starting from?

Thanks your reply Bob. I just got off the phone with them (Ingrid) advised all roads open but carved up a bit so care must be taken. We are leaving on Sunday a.m. from Sydney.
cheers Mark

In WA mainroads.wa.gov.au give roads open, closed, condition etc. Other states equivalent departments may do the same? I discovered exploreoz coz i read somewhere to check it for road conditions - but notice the "latest news" section says "roads in SA - - - - updated 2 June" - a lot can change in a week. Glad i discovered exploreoz though. It is a great web site.

It was June 3 and we update the reports when we get new info. The first fax on roads in this section has been receive today and I am looking at the updates now. We update when we get the official information from the in this case RTA. So a week behind is generally the best published information that is avaiable the only way to get now reports for anywhere is on the phone with the locals.

Why don't you ring Cameron's Corner or Tibboburra Police and just ask them - it is so much easier and you get up to date information just using the telephone and speaking to a real person, especially in these instances. Haven't got either numbers on me but I do know that just recently on this Forum the number for Cameron's Corner was posted. i do believe your best bet will be the Police at Tib.

I agree Ruth it is better to talk to a "real person" on the phone at times. I found out that the roads are open at the moment to camerons corner but they are wet, muddy and need to be looked after with carefull driving.
See you out there!
cheers Mark

There was some rain in the area last night. Santos have just opened their roads to 4X4 only but Transport SA has closed the public roads at this stage. Have heard of rain at broken Hill last night and Lyndhurst had 25mm of rain. Roads into QLD are in good nic if you are heading this way. Sun is out and things are starting to dry out already. As per previous posts, the coppers at tibooburra or give the corner store a holler and caution is reqiuired as there will be mud sections on the road.
good news, things are really greening up after last weeks rain and there are roos everywhere.

Have a good trip!
