went looking at swags today and wanted to buy today...but alas, couldnt find one that had all the features that I thought i would like...
so back to basic but keeping in mind that I dont like getting wet, need a good mattress and must be at least 900mm wide and be supported some how to keep the weight of canvas off the body. I would believe that a minimum 60 mmm mattress of high density ( yes I know there is high and high)...but this can always be added to or replaced so is little importance but would be an added bonus if standard.

Would also prefer a full insect screen rather than half and side lift up entry

any makes recommended would be welcome...preferably those readily available Aust and able to ship to SA

Best Swag

Sar Major Discovery.

Why

Cause I've got one!

Really though, when I get to buy another, I will try to buy one which opens ALL THE WAY down one side.

Check out Burke and Wills.. Have many variations in their catolgue. Mine is a Stringybark and zips all the way down. The Son in law is a big bloke and has a Boxgum. Quality is spot on. JUst an aside a 60 mm mattress keeps you off the deck too

Hill River swags sold direct by the guy that makes them in Jurien Bay. I paid $230 for mine. Full length insect screen zips down both sides on the top. Separate screens at head and foot so it is well ventilated in the warm. Has hanging loops for the roo bar or rope between trees at the head and loops for a cross bar at the feet. Good matress, excellent canvas work. I'm happy.

Not sure if they have a website or not. I'm pretty sure it was Coastal Trimming Lot 1189 Gypsum St Jurien 6516

08 9652 1508 according to the white pages.

I can't remember the guy's name either.

Try Blackstump Campers, he is an agent for those swags (phone number is 0409 608 622, Graham) they are on Alexander drive in Lansdale. I went looking at his swags liked them so much i bought a camper (canvas work is by the same person).
I do mean i like them.

I recently updated to a Jolly Swag Drover King Size. Got it for 20% off at Rays west terrace Adelaide. Looks the goods. the mattress is double thickness for the trunk and single thickness for the legs. Has all the other stuff you mention.

They are also a South Australian company.

I've got a down under swag.

excellent build, full size window at head that you can open and close from inside, fully screened, two poles. ripstop canvas, on bottom and sides

Only down side is the top entry, bloody hard to get in and out of in the rain.

and it has seen some serious rain too, and never a drop inside the swag.

I'd recommend these to anyone (but haven't seen one around for ages.

Hi nudie hope you enjoyed your stay at Berri .
Did the swmbo and the tin lids make it home safe?
We have just had a new double swag made to our requirments by Peter at, Shrives Canvas at Manoora ( Ph 8848 4111) and did a good job of it, been in the industry a long time.
Pity we didnt get onto the subject at Berri you could of had a look.
Take a run up there and speak with him and have something made to your order.
