Well we are finally getting these places correctly answered.

This should be another easy one, and the fist clue, yes its still in South Australia.

Do you know where it is?

I can not make it any easier than this, it retakes to these very old stock yards.

This will be my last hint, as it’s so easy if people have driven this road.

Running low on diesel again and whilst you say it is easy it isn't if you have never traveled these roads.
What about the old sheep yards shearing shed at Lake Gairdner?

Sorry Peter

Not the old stock yards on the way out to Lake Garidner (pictures below)

The old stock yards in question are nothing to do with Mt Ive Station, but are north west of there on the main track coming in from the north, so you are very hot and in the right part of the state.

Now I am not sure of the spelling but is it Wiligenda Well?
Past Waltumba Tank & Pump and before you get to Moonaree.

I have just looked in Places, and then click on maps.....my places is not even mentioned on the map, so this could make it even harder, sorry.

You are so very close and in the right neighbourhood.

Yes it is before Moonaree if coming from the west.

Do you have access to either the HEMA 150k map or the old NATMAP topo maps, is it is on there, and don’t know why it is not on the Places Map, very strange.

Keep going back slowing on the correct map, you will get it, or even better still I can take you there....lol

Just reading you previous replies, you were so close on your second reply, but you still need to go slightly west if you have the right topo map

I have just looked again online at both the places map and the online EOTOPO Map, and unfortunately not mentioned on either, but definitely on the Skull Camp Tanks Road according to their maps.

Just to clarify.
So it is not Willigenda Well (found the correct spelling) and it is West of (my second guess) Kumburta ruins?
If so is Kangaroo Hut too far West?

You have done so well Peter, and seeing you have been so persistent, I will now give you the correct location, as depending on what topo maps you are viewing, they are the Hawks Nest Old Stockyards, which is slightly west of the Kumburts ruins.

Thanks for being on the ball and not giving up.

These old yards are right on the main road, so it would not matter which way you are travelling, you travel within a few metres of them, that’s why I mentioned that anyone that has travelled this road would be aware of then.

Thanks again for not giving up.

Cheers

Stephen

Thanks Stephen.
I would never have found it with the old iTopo Memory Map I was using but I did have listed Hawks Nest Dam which is recorded along Skull Camp Tanks Rd at an intersection just beyond Kumburta.
I also found a video blog of some travelers that camped at what looked like your location but they said it was Willigenda Well but I could not work out how far the spot was from Waltumba Tank & Pump and they were moving along Skull Camp Tanks Rd to Kingoonya.
It was fun but I am now out of diesel.

Stephen.
This Youtube video (a bit amateurish) I found might be of some interest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZAig7aieA8&list=PLZNLEdET361qsjR72IDwS_nGyXRVB2hEg&index=22&t=0s

At around 2.30min you will see where this couple camped and I reckon it might be the stockyards and hut in your pics. Obviously they didn't tape the whole journey so I was at a loss as to exactly where what film section started and when it finished. Anyway they were on Skull Camp Tanks Rd for a lot of the journey.
So hard to marry up locations on hard copy maps especially when a lot of places are not named.
Love the country though as well as the photo opportunities.
Makes you wonder how some of our pioneers managed to stay at these out of the way places for so long.

Cheers from Victoria in lock down.

that is definitely the place where they camped Peter, and just as well as I did not put the picture of the old wagon up, that would have made it very hard to pick.

Well done on finding that video.
