Nev, you don't state where abouts you are, but if in Victoria, Wallaroo Caravans in Droiun are a very good custom van, custom as built to your requirements. Maybe worth a look. Good luck.

If you're in WA, have a look at ELROSS.

ELROSS CARAVANS

At least then you can deal with a local.

Hi Nev,
There is a Facebook group, Lemon Caravans & RVs in Aus. They have produced a list of the good, the bad and the ugly. Might be worth checking it out.
Best of luck! It is somewhat of a minefield out there.

Caravans, and dealers, can be a real minefield. You can do some valuable research on the Lemon Caravans and RVs in Aus Facebook page. They do not make recommendations but do document real problems buyers have had with either a brand or a dealership. If you are in WA I certainly wouldn't buy anything sight unseen from another state. A comprehensive pre-purchase inspection and weighbridge certificate are good places to start.

Hi Nev,
Had a long talk with this guy (Mark Perkins) and had good deal going with either trading and/or building a van for me. Price was reasonable.

I have an Elite which was ordered and built in 2016 and has been pretty good to me since. This Mark has a few of them in stock. Didn't go ahead with any purchase as I am trapped in NSW!!

His website is - http://www.nextgencaravans.com.au/

Phone: (03) 9357 7776

Mobile: 0411573581

Site: www.nextgencaravans.com.au

Address: 47 Merola Way Campbellfield VIC 3061

Worth a look. He is in Campbellfield, so accessible to most people (if you lot are allowed to travel further than your front gate!)

Good research takes time and travelling but necessary in the long run. You don't want to be buying and selling to get a good one.

Good luck

The hardest thing will be finding a brand of caravan not mentioned on the Lemon site. I found it a classic case of misery loves company.

I see what you mean about the lemon caravan site ,jeez it looks to be a dodgy industry for a newcomer ,they'd be better off doing a list of the caravans you can trust

They probably are not game to produce that list. There is a possibility a good portion of that list just have not been featured on the site yet.

I would not take too much notice of the Lemon Caravans Facebook site. Full of unsubstantiated rumours and innuendo. The owner/admin has been taken to court by a caravan manufacturer and sued for false claims and lost, also lost her appeal against the damages claim.

Check out Goldstream RV, located in Pakenham. They build quality Off Road, Semi Off Road and Highway vans. Go to their website and check out the various models.

As I posted in the other caravan thread, I suggest that you have a look on the Caravaners Forum - https://www.caravanersforum.com/viewforum.php?f=106
