Having been observing and occasionally contributing as Mijochka for a while, have decided to come out of the closet. Joan and I are Brisbane based grey nomads in training putting the final touches on plans to hook up our HJ61 Cruiser to our 24' Quest van and head off for 12 months or so. Probable departure date late August, early September. I've found the forum most informative and interesting and look forward to making new friends. Our interest is probably more touring than hard core 4wd but we're looking forward to accessing places previously denied us.
Tried to put a rig photo on but apparently it has to many calories or something. Not very IT savvy, but I'm sure I'll sort something out.
Regards.
Mick

Good on you Mick and Joan. You won't regret becoming members and there are plenty of computer savvy people on here too, including some who like to do animations you may have seen.

It looks like you have had some closeness to friend Des Lexic with your screen name before. It could have been mijocks for short had you missed the keys......

Welcome to the group Mick,
You've got the best old truck for doing what you're about to do.
Happy and safe travels. Keep your EO sticker obvious and you'll be surprised at the contacts you'll make.
All the best.

Welcome Mick and Joan, you'll find you have lots in common with this bunch of wonderful people, and wave if you see an EO sticker thats great to see, even turn around and follow them, sometimes for miles, just hang back a bit cause theylll know you're an EO member and just when you think theyre about to phone the police show em your sticker......oops did I say that ? Nooooo I wouldnt do that hahahaha

Welcome anyway, and if any of that above makes sense, send money now.

Welcome aboard some more good and humble Queenslanders - we need more so as not to be overpowered by those mexicans. Are you really really sure you would want to be friends with some of these people? They tell tales. Lots of fun and look forward to your big trip - you'll meet plenty of like minded people once you head off, can't believe how many are out there. Safe travels.

G'day Mick and Joan,
I'm pleased to be able to extend an official welcome from the SA country-branch of the EO forum........I know Des Lexic has already had a few words to say, but he's really a Mexican dressed up in Crows clothing. Be very wary of anything he says!!!
If you've got a 60 series there is another poor sole here in SA who'll be on to you for parts for his old wreck too......so watch out for Pesty.
The Adelaide blokes aren't too bad, but don't take em too seriously.
Any forumites from Kadina are top blokes (well actually there's only one of us) and I hope you'll be able to drop in and say g'day when you're on your travels.
Which way were you planning on heading?
Cheers,

Willie,
The next line of that song is................"you silly PUSSY".......so I wouldn't want that connotation (spell??) being attached to my MEMBER would I?? LOL
I'll have to look that poem up I'm afraid......when it comes to the finer arts I admit to being a philistein (spelling??)

Hi Mick,

Welcome aboard. You make me very jealous being able to get out and about for 12 months. I only get 4 weeks a year (like many I suppose) and I certainly wish you the all the best.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome. Have some loose ends to tidy up prior to departure, most likely August/September. Probably head north from Brisbane, touring North and Western QLD then home for Christmas.
Booked in to Tamworth for Country Music Festival in Jan, then heading south. From there we're keeping it flexible, though there is a function in Perth at Easter we'd like to make, but we'll see. Probably north from Perth after doing South west corner, across to Darwin, then down the centre. Should the opportunity to pick up some work present itself, that would have a bearing.I've had considerable trucking experience, though I've more recently worked in Real Estate. Joan has worked in retail and we'll have a crack at most things. We've budgetted for 12 months of idleness, so it's not a big issue either way. We're not wealthy, but we've worked hard and long, the kids are well and truly adults now and this isn't a practice run. A wise man once said that very few people arrive at life's end wishing they'd spent more time at the office!
One of our 6 kids asked us what we're going to do when we get back. Our response was that we reckon we're good for another 30 years, 30 divided by 6 equals 5 years and her shift starts in 2010. They're not sure whether we're fair dinkum.
Getting back to the rig photo. If I take a shot on a lower resolution will this solve the problem?
Mick.

Mick put up another post asking for help as there are some real wizards out there and I am sure someone will offer for you to email them a photo and adjust it and send it back. I am not that much of a wiz, but I did manage to get it right after a while on my own pictures so you can try me if you like, no garrantee I will succeed. If you have a picture program where you can alter pictures try and adjust it to a width of 300 pixels and it might work. My email addy is behind my rig pic.

Thanks for the offers of assistance with the rig pic. I'll have a go at sorting it out first before I call in the cavalry.
Mick.
